Re: Old Country Store (then and now)
Sandy, to answer your first question: I do know who was responsible for the store's renovation. I have just not told you all the answer to that question - yet.
The last time that I laid eyes on the Caldwell store, it had not been repaired.
One word of caution, I have yet to verify that the store was moved from another source, although, as previously stated, I believe that the original information is accurate.

Hi Bruce - I'm getting ahead of the story teller then! LOL I am enjoying your adventure and will watch for the next installment! :D
Re: Old Country Store (then and now)
I have not forgotten this thread. I have been having some issues with a medication that I am currently taking. As soon as these issues are resolved (hopefully soon), I will continue my research.

Bruce - Take care and hope you are okay soon.
One dear friend (and lady of this parish) recently underwent surgery. The operation was great, but the medication she was given afterwards was awful. Made her hallucinate.
We'll see you once you get is resolved.
Re: Old Country Store (then and now)
Bruce, I agree with the others. Look after yourself.
If only they could design drugs with no side effects or other complications!
Re: Old Country Store (then and now)
Bruce, look after yourself first.
Cheers Ole

Hi Bruce - Sure hope this is sorted out for you quickly. I keep hoping that some day, the diseases we suffer from are cured rather than controlled with meds.
Take good care of yourself! :)

On 11/17/18 I took a drive out to the Caldwell store. I noticed a difference. Although (at least to me), it appeared insignificant, it reminded me that things never stay the same. Can you spot the difference? May want to compare this pic with one found on page 13,item #249.

Re: Old Country Store (then and now)
Bruce, you've set us some detective work!
The most obvious thing is that the large branch appears to be no longer stuck in the hole in the roof. In addition:
--brush/branches on the ground in front of the Coca Cola sign seems to have been removed, and
--something is different about a couple of the glass panes in the window to the right of the front door. I'm not sure if some repair work has been done or whether perhaps it's just a change of reflection in the glass.
Re: Old Country Store (then and now)
Good to see that you are feeling well enough to be out and about Bruce.
As far as the puzzle you set goes it's made slightly more difficult because the lighting is different, which could account for the window glass appearance. I think that the branch is still there on the roof, but there certainly have been some clearing away of brush and so on form around the store.
Re: Old Country Store (then and now)
Good to have you back and feeling better?
Looking at the two photos, it appears that someone cleared away the brush that was by the side of the building and maybe did fix some of the window panes. Also the grass and weeds in front of the door on the left have been mowed?
It also appears that the large branch that was stuck in the roof has either been removed as well..... or it simply got "tired" and fell over the edge by itself. So curiosity is blazing, who done it - and why? <chuckle>
Re: Old Country Store (then and now)
I just saw this thread and was going to say, that is some retouching job! ;-)
Re: Old Country Store (then and now)
I have been visiting the Old Country Store approximately once every two to three weeks to see if there have been any major changes to the structure. There has not been any.
Because my medication issues have not been fully resolved, I have been hesitant to continue my research at this time. However, given time, I hope to talk further with some more of the Caldwell relatives. There are two people in mind that Frank, and Stephanie mentioned in our luncheon meeting several months ago.

All in your own time when you feel well enough, Bruce. We will still be interested, and wish you well. Thanks for another update.
Re: Old Country Store (then and now)
Thank you Bruce for the update.
Cheers Ole
Re: Old Country Store (then and now)
I learned from a source that the roof on the country store had been fixed. So, I drove by there to view it.
Will provide a photo within the next several days.

Well done Bruce, looking forward to it!
Re: Old Country Store (then and now)
I promised you a photo, and I did not deliver. My apologies. I have been having trouble with my knees. Within the near future, I plan to undergo bilateral knee replacements.:(
Besides being able to ambulate better, I hope to be able to ride my bicycle again.
Will keep you posted.
Thanks for your patience.
