Hi Joe, your attempt seems fine.If you reduce the saturation of blues and aquas with HSL sliders, you will see that the blue color on the rocks will disappear too ;) If you have PS , Color Balance Adjustment Layer is a helpful tool to remove color casts too.

It still has a blue cast but less than before. The important thing here is that I learned how to reduce it.

It is far more important to get a good image than to try to force specific compositional rules into a situation where they don't work. Thanks Manfred. I have been following this 'rule' rather slavishly for quite a while. I'll keep an open mind going forward.
