High winds here, so the airial fireworks are cancelled. However, high winds give us nice sunsets:

Not sure if a kit lens expensive enough lol :P but i was at a safe distance from her ^_^

Twist is interesting, Colin, but both sunset shots are great, especially the "cloud factory." There's so much there: silhouette, reflections, dynamic range. A great shot.

Nice image, Kit - I like the diagonals of the roof line and road. I'm curious, did you look at it in B&W? It has a fairly limited color range, so that might be something to try.

Hopefully tomorrow night I'll get the ultimate "high tide" shot, although as luck would have it, it's only a 3.2 metre tide (in an area where you really need all you can get) (we get tides up to 4m).

I would have normally used a tripod or monopod and stopped down to about f/11 or even f/16 for this type of shot but, I wanted to see how I could do hand holding. The image was moving a bit in the virewfinder (even with IS turned on but, I did see the difference when I turned it off) so I decided to shoot at a bit higher shutter speed. BTW: at my age (70) I need more help hand-holding than I did at 50 years old.

I have previously done OK hand holding this lens on more distant objects.

This looks fine to me sharpness-wise, Richard, but sadly I think the red channel was fairly well blown - whether anything could be improved in PP by reducing exposure, I am not sure and it may depend on your raw converter; ACR is quite good at putting a bit of detail into a blown channel from the other two - sounds impossible, but seems to work.

I really like the first one, Pops. It's a great photo, with the yellow and black on the earth and foliage colors, and it gives a great "shade tree mechanic" vibe just sittin' there.
