The night brought a bad weather,so the road over the hills was more a nightmare than a delight.

After the Easter I had to travel to Cluj-Napoca,a town in the middle of Transylvania.
Nowadays, here, every town aspires to be grey.I tried to look for those aspects which are against my opinion.Though this is my first impression.

The aspiration of Romanians from Transylvania to be with Romanian Kingdom accomplished after WW 1 when Wilsonian principles were applied.

I don't like this city.
At page no.3 I told that two members of Hunyadi family ruled Hungarian Kingdom in 15th c.-John Hunyadi and his son Matthias(Matthew) Corvinus.Today nothing reminds about them in their native place,Corbi village in Arges county(in Latin corvus,i means raven at plural corvi=ravens and the similitude with Romanian corbi is easy observable). The cross which was constructed on the Stone Ravens hill is linked by the monastery which is,there, in a cave.

The Church of St.Michael was first Catholic one, then Protestant and now Catholic again. Its construction begun in 14th century, being finished in 15th c.The present tower was erected in the second part of 19th c.Only in 1902 Austrian - Hungarian administration hoping, probably, to silence the conscience of Romanians, constructed the monument of Matthias Corvinus King whose Romanian roots were known.

The artist presented us only warrior side of the Matthew.A warrior with his unsheathed sword in a horizontal position waiting to defense or to attack.

He,the artist, ignored the cultural side of this, probably, the most important man whose birth place was in Cluj -the spread of Renaissance movement directly from Italy to the entire Central Europe.
Unio Trium Nationum(The Union of the Three Nations)appeared in 1438 and was a pact between Hungarians,Germans and Szecklers against peasants' revolts. The Romanians who formed the majority were excluded. This was the legal support of the ethnic "contrast" which never finished.

Transilvanian Memorandum was a petition sent by the Romanian leaders to the Emperor Franz Joseph asking for equal rights with Hungarians and against Magyarisation. After that, memorandum signers were sentenced to the prison in 1894.After 100 years, here,a Memorandum Signers Monument was built.
