Re: Downtown Ottawa Sunset Panorama - Large File!
Top Shot(s). Bravo!
Nice horizontal balance - trees and water.
Fantastic stitching: especially considering the failing light.
***
One small point, there is a group of three standing on the ledge in the middle-ground just above the three balled street light - the middle person could do with about +1 Flash Fill on their face, maybe you should consider a re-shoot . . . ?
Cheers,
Bill

Way too funny! Hysterically funny!
Re: Downtown Ottawa Sunset Panorama - Large File!
So sharp with great depth of field from front to back. C'est très magnifique.

Re: Downtown Ottawa Sunset Panorama - Large File!
cracking image and superb piece of work, One you can be justly proud of and boast about !
one strange thought - all that water - all the frontage - not a seagull in sight :)
Re: Downtown Ottawa Sunset Panorama - Large File!
I was going to suggest that you hadn't cleaned up some dirty spots, then I wiped my monitor
and the spots went away..dah.
I can appreciate what you have accomplished with the tricky water and clouds, nice job
considering ten minutes of movement. Very worthy image.

Stunning, and truly an inspiration to learn how to photograph panoramas... The detail seen throughout is amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Just curious.
:)
Mostly because the tower was not dead centre from the vantage point I was shooting from and I was trying to get in as many of the recognizable landmarks as possible. Trees on the bottom right blocked me from rotating my camera further to the right and there is a rather ugly structure on the bottom left that I mostly cut out. I had originally taken a pano with 12 shots but trimmed out the leftmost one for "artistic" reasons.
I couldn't shoot from the spot I wanted to as much of the area had been fenced off, likely for repair work. I hope to get back and do another shoot in the fall when the leaves have turned.

Well, every post above really says it. That is magnificent in terms of its detail and the sheer quality of work that has obviously gone in to making it. What do you use for the stitching?

Photoshop CC 2014.
All files started out as RAW, I used one of the 11 images to process in ACR and applied those settings to the other 10 files. I exported these to a TIFF and used the Photomerge functionality to assemble and stitch the pano.

Fantastic, this gives us something to aspire too.

I would submit that a fair number of us were using this technique before he coined the phrase

Re: Downtown Ottawa Sunset Panorama - Large File!
Hello
I am writing from a design agency in the UK. We are looking for a panoramic shot of Ottawa for one of our clients and came across your lovely shot.
In terms of application it would be applied to a wall in an office space. So firstly I wanted to find out if this shot is available to license or similar and if so what size is it, what the cost is and how we’d go about getting hold of the digital file?
I would be grateful if you could respond asap as we are looking to produce artwork for print by the end of tomorrow.
My direct email is justin.holland@platformgroup.co.uk
Kind regards
Justin

This is an 11 shot panorama shot at an 80mm focal length of downtown Ottawa, Canada and shows some of the landmark buildings.as well as the entrance to Lock #1 of the Rideau Canal. The shot was taken about 10 minutes before sunset. It was taken from Nepean Point. If I were to print it full size it would be approximately 60 cm high and 230 cm long / 24in high / 90in long.
