Joe you have such exquisite photos I find it hard to believe you have any nemesis! I really like these and the yellow crowned as well. They have such personality. They are not as abundant as the egrets and GB Heron but we see them from time to time. I hope to get back to this sanctuary as they will be hatching soon and it would be nice to see those chicks.

Barbara, this is a nice set. The branches spoils #2 a little, but on nature/bird photography, sometimes we can not avoid them. :(

Thank you Brian! Yes in #2 and #3 he was trying to find the best branches for his nest. He was very particular, guess the Mrs. had specifications:D We have some but not near what we do of the other birds.

Oh, she has specifications. It's hard to catch in a shot but I have seen a female GBH accept a branch, try to fit it into the nest and then throw it away and squawk loud and angry at her mate who flies off fast to get another.

Sometimes they are so eager for the next piece that the male barely lands before she is grabbing it from his beak.
