Lovely shot Barbara, colours are spot on!
Hi Barbara,
My you've been posting a lot of wonder BIF images! This is just to say that this one is my all time favourite because the techs are stellar, plus the gorgeous light, detail, wing position, beautiful background and colours. ie; Wow!
An absolutely wonderful shot Barbara. I can see what Izzie is getting at, but given that the bird is on a slight slant, then the brown cape is going to do that. As natural history photographers we ought to be accepting of what nature is offering us. Yes, a nice composition is all very nice, but it is not the be-all and end-all of such a photograph. As far as this photo is concerned Barbara, I would say quit whilst you are winning!
Egrets of various kinds are now colonising the UK. Little Egrets have been with us in good numbers for many years now. I even had one flying over my garden the other day. Great White Egrets and Cattle Egrets are now beginning to colonise as well, in small numbers.
John
Thank you John! Ours are colonizing as well and it is fascinating. The great whites egrets, cormorants, and anhinga nest together in one area and at another local the cattle egrets, snowy egrets, reddish egrets, tri-colored egrets, little blue heron, night black crowned night heron and roseate spoonbill nest together. It is cool to look through the lens and see all the different birds on their nest.
