OK kids...tell me I am ignorant but what are the egg shells for and why are they in the pot? :confused:

In the old days, coffee was made by putting the grounds directly into the pot with the water, then boiling until done. The egg shells were added to settle the grounds to the bottom so that when pouring a cup, the grounds stayed in the pot, not in the cup. Some swear that coffee is better that way . . .
