Re: Formal Portrait of a Beauty - C&C Welcome
Lovely captures. I am less than knowledgeable on how to use light sources so can't add to the erudite comments above. And to be honest when you talk of Ice Light this just brings to mind an Aussie beer which goes this name. I have not the foggiest notion of what your ice light is like, other than it is probably not a can of beer, nor how to use it properly. But it is of no matter to me the part it played in your capture of a very handsome model in that I really like your final posted shot. Both are beautiful shots, irrespective of the underwear.
:D

Very nice capture Kim, she is a beauty!:)

Kim, I think that a slight vignette might modify the impact of the laundry and the video controller...

Thank you Ken and David for commenting.

Hi Richard. Thank you for commenting. I did try a vignette, but as funny as it sounds, I decided i liked seeing the items you mention. I guess because it's so true to Mia. :-)

Re: Formal Portrait of a Beauty - C&C Welcome
I'd not heard of these before (neither the beer, nor the light).
A quick google has revealed to me that the ICE Light is a linear (LED) light source - others can use the link and scroll down to see it in use.
A catchlight is simply a reflection of a light source in the spherical surface of the eye(s), so if the source is linear, so will be the catchlight - assuming it is in a position to be seen fully* reflected. I note their website gallery has a lot of example portraits with the model's eyes closed or diverted - or the they are (mostly) too distant to fully resolve - or the light is an integral part of the composition.
* Your second shot shows a shortened reflection due to Mia's 'eyebrows'.
Certainly Mia is one lovely (and photogenic) cat.
The beer never appeared in my (first 10 or so) search results - perhaps I'm in the wrong hemisphere :D

Now this has got the nicest angle of light possible. Very nicely done...She looks more like a prima donna...;)

Thanks Izzie. I worked on it last night, in not the best of moods. When I saw it come to life, it made me feel better and brought a smile to my face.

Kim, that is one beautiful cat and you have certainly done it justice. I know nothing about lighting techniques but I just love the result.
