You are certainly tackling some tricky scenes now, Brian.
Maybe overexposed but certainly not properly cloned. I used to live in the mountainous great white north and the sun does turn the overhanging snow blindingly white and casts shadows through it. So even in my fantasy world I felt a need to leave it bright.
I am definitely having fun exploring the possibilities that an old chimney from a coal oil lamp, some tinfoil, an old hanging ornament, a whitish cloth, and some lights offer. Here is the original.

I believe that a month ago I would not have been able to create this shot. This leads me to think that the very basic studio skills and thought patterns that I have developed in the last month have transferred to my garden shooting. I like how this is coming along.

Plenty of detail there and an interesting composition.
You might get away with a fraction more highlight brightness; but it will be so easy to over saturate the reds, extreme care would be required.

This blossom is a very vibrant red when it is young. With my usual tendency for lack of subtlety I tried very hard to keep the faded delicate feeling alive and well. I did create five individual areas in then shot for pp and tried to not overdo any one area.

I believe my pp skills are coming along. At least my wife likes this one.
