Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
I particularly like your watching the waves shot. In those dull conditions the higher contrast works really well. The composition is good too and of course the beastly mobile phone is eliminated. Mind you they do come in handy when you've left your real camera behind !!!
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
You were lucky with the Curlew in week 8 Geoff. Notoriously shy birds in my experience. A nice set overall. All too familiar with the weather story being told in week 9 but their are some nice captures. I particularly like 1 and 3. Not so sure about week 10 though. Keep it up. My own enthusiasm is coming in short bursts at the moment.
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
More great documented shots of high quality, Geoff, apart from your macro's I love the Curlew, well captured mate:)
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
Thanks for comments. Regarding curlews, I went back to the hide and chopped back some of the brambles which were making photography difficult and the curlew was wandering about just downstream; but never came close enough for a worth while photo. Took a pair of small secateurs in my camera bag but forgot my gloves so ended up with plenty of scratches and no decent photos! :(
Week 11 - Looking northwards from South Sands
Another view of the castle and looking up the harbour on a calmer but still windy day. Another few weeks and the area will be full of boats!

South Sands Ferry
Just started again, in time for the Easter crowds. In order to land on this shallow beach they have a self propelled landing stage which loads up with passengers on the beach then drives into the sea to meet with the ferry.

Passengers have to clamber between ferry and lander then the boat goes up the harbour to the town while the lander drives up the beach.

Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
More lovely shots. Particularly like the first and third, in the first it is nice to see how the coast and its environs change - I look forward to seeing the one full of boats and in the third the colours and movement work well. I think the second shot would be better taken from the beach itself ?
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
Very nice images in week 9 and I like the images with a story in week 11 :)

Week 12 - A Snake in the Grass
In a woodland clearing I nearly stepped on this Grass Snake's tail but just managed to sneak around to the side for some photos.

Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
What a wonderful photo -- and the colours of the dried grass and the snake go together (I suppose not a surprise since it's a grass snake:))!
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
That's a lovely capture Geoff.
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
Great capture Geoff, when living in the U.K, I never came across one of these little beauties, but here in Turkey I have seen plenty, mostly at night though, so still no images:(
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
That's a great capture. Any chance you can clone the small pieces of green grass bottom left and top right ?
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
Yikes! nice shot though...you've captured it very well too with those eyes and slittering wishy-washy tongue. He looks alert and yet shy at the same time though...probably wary of your big shoes...:)
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
I did manage a crop to remove those few pieces of fresh grass. Here is another angle on the snake.

Week 13 - The First Customer
It took me a full day to create a new birdtable from oddments which were in my scrap pile; although that did include a bit of 'design time'.
This Chaffinch was my first customer.

Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
Another nice capture of the snake Geoff, your woodworking skills don't look that bad either;) with a nice capture of the Chaffie to boot:)
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
I like the snake shots very much, very nice colors and the snake looks very clear in both shots :)

So lovely - sometimes the simple ones are some of the best.
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
With that birdtable, the lid lifts off to enable restocking of the central tube; and if you look closely you will see a rather wide gap in the mitre corner of the lip. It was cut correctly but when I tried to fit the lid I discovered the area below had slightly distorted so the lid wouldn't fit. The only option was to reposition one side of the lip; hence the gap.
Maybe one day I will get around to cutting another replacement strip of wood. But I have a feeling that unless the birds make a formal complaint it might be put off for a week or two!
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
Two nice ones this time around. I do not like snakes but you made this one so handsome and your birdie feeder is good too...your chaffie is a little bit less colourful than Benjy's.
Re: My Weekly Photos during 2015 - Part 1
That, Izzie, is because his is male while mine is female. ;)
