George Gershwin's Piano

Maybe I'm all wet here, but I would be cropping in from the left to eliminate whatever is going on three black keys in from the left in the reflection. I'd then try for a little more definition of the black keys on the right so you're drawn into the logo. For some reason I'm thinking of the opening credits of the original Star Wars movie and how they scrolled. I see the keys doing the same type of thing.

Dear Mike,

I must be a totally weird person in that I would have preferred a traditional perspective. Backboard more upright and keys fading from right to left. I had an upright Steinway piano that I played for much of my growing up life and the touch of ivory is totally different from the plastic they use today.

Otherwise, a lovely image and your crops are harmonious. I loved George Gershwin's works.

I still prefer the first crop. The others make me feel cramped, even though I am not a pianist, and don't show the full grandeur of the instrument.

This is not really relevant but there is an amusing story about Gershwin, which may or may not be true. When he was visiting Europe he asked a well know "serious" composer for some lessons in composition. The composer asked him how much he earned. When George told him, the composer said "I should be taking lessons from you".

Not practical given the viewing constraints and the related distractions that would have appeared in the background.

Regardless, I enjoy presenting myself with the challenge of not necessarily being traditional.

I would understand if it was in a museum but I really don't understand why they put it in a library. I thought libraries were for books.
