Gorgeous idea, well executed.
Couple of thoughts - Her hair disappears out of the right hand edge of the image. Is that okay or would it be better if it was all inside the frame? Secondly - That earring. Does it 'fit' with the reast of the image?
Good eye!
For me, the subject isn't Jenny; it's the thingy on her hair. As a result, the framing of the hair that Donald mentioned works fine for me, though the earring is a distraction because it takes the eye away from the subject.
I like the processing in this shot, Andrew, I think it is well-suited to the summery atmosphere.
I would like to see a bit more of the shoulder because the smoothness of the bare skin offers a nice contrast to the lines of the hair. On that note, I find her hair is blending in to the background in the upper left of the frame. Maybe you could tone the background down (before the conversion?).
I am not sure about the earring. I have looked at this shot a couple of times this afternoon, and I am inclined to think it balances the thing holding her hair. But that thing (whatever you call it) is dominating.
Thanks for the comments!
-With regard to the framing of the hair: I agree that the image might be a bit stronger if the hair did not run off the right side of the frame. As Mike points out the hair "thingy" was the primary focus of the image so I feel the framing isn't too much of a detractor.
- The earring: I felt the earring lent some balance to the hair "thingy". On the other hand it is useful to know that other more experienced eyes see it as distracting. I fussed around with trying to clone the earring out in Lightroom but I was unhappy with the result; the image had too obviously been altered and left an unnatural looking spot. My cloning skills have room for growth.
- I have attached a new version with the background toned down as per Greg's suggestion.
Thanks again,
Andrew
Hi AndrewI like the seperation between the head and BG and the earring is fine with me. I think you used a yellowish tint for the photo, it might look better in B&W or with a lighter tint.
