Thank you for sharing this. I much prefer the colour version because it looks like you sketched it with a pencil and every detail is sharp and crystal clear.

Sorry. Perhaps my vision of a charcoal drawing is incorrect.

Christina,

Not so much incorrect, but difficult to capture as the values made it difficult to get a good rendering. I tried other filters and they were just as difficult to convert.

I appreciate your taking the time. I've never tried something like this so I haven't a clue. Perhaps I will give it a try on something.

Hi John,

Since you said you found it difficult to convert I thought I would give it a try on your image. If you don't care for these versions just say the word and I will delete them. I'm simply curious because I see that regular photos can be converted into art and drawings using photoshop.

1. Simply converted to B&W (playing with green, blue, orange and yellow sliders)

2. Artistic Filter - Brush Strokes - Angled - And then converted to B&W as above. (I tried the charcoal filter and it didn't work hence this effect instead.)

You obviously had the same issues I had with the charcoal filter. I don't mind your version at all, I had better luck with the colored pencil and even chrome filter. Nicely done.

Yes indeed the charcoal effect looked nothing like the art works I have seen hanging in galleries. Thank you. One day I will try and create art out of one of my critters :)
