Actually, although there were a lot of photographers present, there was plenty of room to shoot. Boy it was cold but, I'd love a lens like this...

I nailed the focus on the rear crane but, missed the focus, by just a tad, on the head of the front crane; even though I was shooting at f/8...

I used a Canon 40D (this was several years ago - I now mainly shoot with a pair of Canon 7D cameras) and a 300mm f/4L IS lens... I shot at ISO 640 before full light and reduced that to ISO 400 as the light increased. I mounted my camera/lens on a Giottos tripod and used the Manfrotto 393 Gimbal Mount. I had on so many layers of clothing that it was difficult to move...

Thanks for the nice comments. It was wonderful finding these images after all these years. I wish that I had been able to shoot for the several days I had planned at the Bosque del Apache....
