Andre - your comment reminds me of our experience when we arrived in Capetown after a long flight from Canada many years ago. It was in December, so summer down your way. We were taking a taxi from the airport to our hotel and were chatting with our taxi driver.

Taxi driver - "What is the weather like back where you live?"

Us - "It was -20° C when we left."

Taxi driver - "It gets down to 20° C here too."

The taxi driver simply couldn't fathom temperatures with a minus sign in front of them...

Like these. Snow streaming across road is a highly effective story, perhaps more to it than (yet another) snowy owl shot. Having lived in Minnesota, Boston, and Vermont for big chunks, I've come to love the intensity and bite of winter. Mere man put in his place, etc. Call me odd.

Reminds me of last December, I and the crew were trying valiantly attempting to string garland across a busy intersection in
-5 degree F and 30 mph winds for 2 days. We rented a lift and had to try to figure out how to secure it to a thin 1/4" cable without it slipping and then somehow run power from a light pole 20' away. We managed to get one end and the mid section done and the had to move the lift, only to discover that the levelers had frozen in the up position. We had to take down that which we had just put up, as it would not be a good thing for garland to be left hanging in the middle of the road! We had to return the following day, after renting a less temperamental lift, and redo the job. All of this was performed in front of a local Irish themed bar!! That Irish coffee at the end of the job was very welcomed.:D

But on the other hand, that reminds me of summer. When it gets really hot, everyone complains how hot it is and wish it would cool down. :)

Lowly coffee without the zing would do. We have to drive to most locations and a DUI would be bad. Not that I mind an Irish anytime. Come to think of it, it has been a while.... Hmmmm.

Keep them coming BoBo. We Brits enjoy a good moan about the weather but we rarely see anything like this. Makes me feel better to see it. Nicely captured.
