Re: Just for Fun - Post your nearly photos
Thank you to all for contributing some very amusing photos.
John, that was a homeless mother cat after drinking milk. I fed her and her litter for quite some time...
Colin... priceless and a keeper
Matt... thanks for sharing. I too, have a lot of duck butts and I think they are cute.
Here is another nearly photo... Overexposed and too slow a shutter speed, but it tickles my funny bone.

And now that I have found a place to share my nearly there photos, I will start deleting them from my hard drive. :)
Looking forward to seeing more!

Don't delete this one, that's a keeper.
Re: Just for Fun - Post your nearly photos
I had the clever idea of leaving the top flap of my backpack open so I could reach behind myself to stow and retrieve lenses. Then I got really close to the ground for a shot.
http://i43.tinypic.com/27z985v.png
That's my 100mm f2.0 USM lens roughly two inches from the ground. It slipped out of the bag and over my shoulder. No harm done, but I decided a Think Tank belt and lens pouches were a better idea.
The next one, unfortunately, happens regularly. A pretty solid hit forced Racer McChaser (pictured) to skate backwards on one leg, flirting with the out-of-bounds line. To get the shot, I stuck my camera out of the photo position, aimed and focused blind. Got the frame, and put the center focus point right on her shoulder, but the focus system didn't get there in time.

Ref shirts, with their black-and-white stripes, are serious focus magnets. I have quite a few tack-sharp photos of their backsides with blurry action in the background.

Re: Just for Fun - Post your nearly photos
LOL Bernard "Not tonight Josephine" that's a great funny shot... John, thanks but cute as it is it is badly clipped. (:
Nancy I have a ton just like that.
I have one more to share, really not so bad and could've been great if I had been lower and pressed the shutter sooner ie; no clipping. It's an old pelican, likely blind but still full of life.

Thanks Lex and Kay... There really should be more sports photos here!

Well I was to scared to walk around the tree for the shot, since this was a cub and I figured momma was probably around.

Tried some bird shots today but without any real success; light not good and subjects too far away, even with 500 mm lens.
Eventually saw some closer swans and I could recognise a perfect angle approaching. But approaching too quickly so I had to rush without any thinking time.

I can salvage something from it; but not the prize winning shot which it could have been! :(
Re: Just for Fun - Post your nearly photos
This is mine: We went to the Scott's Air Force Base down the llinois side of the pond to attend the Thunderbird Air Show. We didn't know anybody there so we were just one of those hundreds of people wanting to watch the show and take pictures. A long walk to the flight line too...!!! Having short legs, I was at a disadvantage here. Just as the show was starting again, I thought I have a good position and ready with my aim. Wrong! This lady decided to grace my shot too...with her back. Brilliant!

Every bird photographer has some of these.

I kinda like the look of utter surprise as this Ibis runs into a tree.

Hi Geoff,
This is too beautiful to qualify for nearly there, and it is beautiful instead of funny, but thanks for sharing! :)
