It's fine if people want to (hence the reason I didn't close the thread), but I suspect people often miss the date bit - and "end up talking to a dead person". Sure, it may help others in the future, but I think some like to be aware that they're probably not going to be helping the OP like they thought they were.

I'm reminded of a place that discusses microscopes. People come along and ask what to buy. This thread has covered use, the OP suggests he doesn't want to buy again but no one asked about budget - unless I missed it. For most people that aspect is probably the important one.
:) Somebody generally does ask how much do you want to spend on a microscope. Curiously they have a similar problem make and choice is dependent on the type of optics that needs to be used and it always pays to keep the glass for the next upgrade of the other part if at all possible. Picking a make is often a long term decision.
