As you are from Vermont I have found that the twist locks on the legs only need a slight twist to unlock and lock, with a little practice you can unlock all section with one twist with out having to remove your gloves, like with lever locks a great feature in winter. Now that just level the base with a push of a remote sounds great.

The CT-3442 is shorter and not as stout as the CT3472LV. But in general, there are a lot of similarities among the Feisol tripods. The differences seem to be in things like base diameter and leg tube diameter. Small differences that apparently make a difference, since the price goes up as these increase. Somehow, even though the leg lock angles are all the same, some manage to get much closer to the ground than others. Hard to figure why! Perhaps I will call them up and ask about that.

The ability to unlock all leg sections at once has to be quicker and easier than the lever locks. I suppose that tightening them individually would also take less time than the levers. The lever hassle is why I started wishing for a remote control!

Thanks for the information. This tripod sounds like a definite possibility to replace the one I have!
