My interest is because I have a Canon 60d and unfortunately a few weeks back I cracked the top display.I went to the dealer who sold me the camera and got an estimate from Canon UK---289 EUROS!!!! They have to replace the top housing.
So I searched the web and discovered that Canon Europe replace the complete top housing but in the USA you can purchase the top display as a replacement part, costing 60 dollars plus labour cost.
Needless to say I am very annoyed with myself for being careless as normally I am very particular with my precious gear.
A search for canon camera spares usually brings up lots of results every where so parts can be bought. Also canon camera repairs. A very careful look round the Canon site will also eventually show authorised service centres. They may well offer a better price. I used Lehmann. I notice now though that canon have decided not to allow 2 of their full frame cameras to be serviced by anybody other than Canon UK. If a 5D III expect high prices. This might just be to allow them to check on very recent models. Oh yeh.

I did the same with my D90, but I see from the exploded parts view that I really only cracked the window that is a part of the top assembly. The LCD is a completely separate part.
