I'd never consider the 6D
I can tell you the type of photographer who I think may buy the 6D. I am paraphrasing a posting on another website wherein the OP stated asked how another photographer managed to shoot such good portraits. He then stated that he was very surprised when he learned that the photographer about whom he was posting, "shot the portraits with a 50D." The OP had thought that you must use a FF camera to get results that good.
Basically, he was telling us that he could not get good quality from his crop equipment and that he had assumed a person would automatically be able to improve the quality of his imagery by shooting with a full frame camera.
IMO, that is the type photographer who will be attracted by the 6D.
If I were so enthralled by FF, (I am happy with my 1.6x crops thank you!) I would seriously consider a refurbished 5Dii at several hundred U.S. Dollars less than the 6D!

I am guessing that the 6D AF would not be much better or worse than the 5Dii. A quote regarding the 6D from Mike Owen of Canon, Europe, "...we felt that this type of camera in this particular user group, auto focus performance is not 100% critical." Mr. Owen; Focus is DARN CRITICAL FOR ME!
By the way, Owen mentions that an articulating LCD is not durable:rolleyes: and if you need an articulating screen for the 6D, just use your smartphone:eek:
Here is a "snapshot" comparison of the 6D and 7D
http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-EO...s-Canon_EOS_7D
I don't always agree with the "snapshot" comparisons...
In camera HDR of the 7D doesn't interest me - that I what I use postpocessing for.
980 shots of the 6D vs. 800 shots per charge of the 7D... That is what I always carry an extra battery for...
That the 6D is 3mm smaller than the 7D in two dimensions is totally irrelevant.
That the 6D is 90 grams lighter in weight. A bit over 3 ounces doesn't seem like a lot of weight, especially since lenses like the 24-70L are a lot heavier than my 17-55mm f/2.8 IS.
The 8.5 FPS burst of the 7D over the 4.5 FPS of the 6D is important to me.
The 131ms shutter delay of the 7D vs the 144ms delay of the 6D may be important or may be irrelevant.
The snapshot states that the 7d is "slightly cheaper" than the 6D. IMO a 7D list price of $1,500 USD compared with a $2,100 USD price of the 6D is not "slightly" cheaper. A $600 USD difference is IMO quite a bit of cash. Additonally, I would purchase a 7D (if I did not already own one) as a Canon refurbished camera from B&H and that would cost me $1,150 or $950 cheaper than the 6D. I could (almost) buy a pair of 7D refurbished cameras (I always shoot with a pair of cameras) for the price of one new 6D.
Of course, eventually refurbished 6D cameras will come on the market and possibly the new prices of 6D cameras will be reduced sometime in the future.
Finally, I absolutely LOVE my 17-55mm f/2.8 IS lens and that is another reason (along with the fact that my crop image quality is very good to excellent) that I will stick with the 7D. I JUST LOVE THAT CAMERA. AND... the new firmware update and Magic Lantern add-on for my 7D is going to make this great camera even better!
Re: I'd never consider the 6D
That Magic Lantern have finally cracked the 7D is amazing and I love that you simply piggy-back the extra features onto the camera by sticking it on a memory card. I'm guessing they used the recent Canon firmware update to crack a way in and use the same route for their tweaks.
