Re: Sheikh Zayed Mosque Set in B&W - image heavy
Thanks very much, Antony. No HDR used in any of the external shots. Shot 16 was an Exposure Fusion panorama on a tripod (using PTGui to stitch), and shots 1 and 18 were handheld panoramas.
Shot 2 was a blend of 2 exposures, due to the massive dynamic range between the inside of the dome in the foreground and the bright done framed in the distance, taken on a tripod. I tried it as a Exposure Fusion blend with 5 different exposures, but couldn't get the look I wanted with halos appearing around the dome in the distance.
Otherwise all were single frames handheld, using Nik Software Color Efex and then Silver Efex as part of my processing workflow.

WOW! Ditto on everything everyone else said. As you have shown, it's a perfect place for B&W photography. Too many favorites to mention. Thanks for sharing.

There is a mausoleum on site, and you are not allowed to take photographs of that. There are also separate mens and womens ablution areas which are off limits for the opposite sex. Apart from that you are free to photograph what you want. Inside the mosque you are allowed to use a tripod (shot 16 is a large pano).
I haven't visited at night yet, but the structure is uplit after sunset - this is something I'll do on one of my next visits. It'll have to be colour for the night shots though.
Thank you for that info. Truly looking forward to your night shots... :)
