Thank you!
I have to say I have NO idea :( what kind of fly this is. I agree it's "rear end" is weird. That's what caught my attention...but then it didn't fly away and looked like it's mouth was stuck! So I had to take a picture! Everytime I try to catch stuff like this it flies away!!! No pun intended! :)
PS... Great Belgium pictures! Very sharp!:):)

I think however, it would look better with a little bit darker and less bright background. I think just a tiny bit.
Great shot!

My submission: Moonrise at Werrington South
I didn't get many chances to take photos this month. The following one was taken on 31 July night, but only processed in August. So I would view this is my August work, hope this is fine.

Here's a laugh for you - I'm viewing this on my iPhone, and when I zoom in it cuts off the left-hand portion of the post. When I saw the shot I thought "hang on a minute - I know that tree - I'll bet that's Yan's shot" ... And I was right :)

Colin,
Seems this tree is famous now:-)
I decide to start a new photography project of shooting Sydney coast, this is not easy for me as my home is not close to anywhere of Sydney's coast, but I like to have a try, for both dawn and dusk photography.

Perfect moment, Dave. You captured good expression on the face of the lady but also on the face of the eagle (or the bird if it is not an eagle). Very powerful.
To my eye, I think the picture is not leveled though, slightly I guess.
Re: Photo Challenge for August 2009
Alis,
Ooops, you were right (and after I give others grief on this very point, oh the shame :o)
With a fresh eye this morning I have tidied up the background too, as well as levelling it.
In the interests of learning, if anyone is interested in seeing before and after, have a look here and switch between Next and Previous
Thanks,
