Hi Antonio,
The actual exposure is timed with a Canon TC80-N3 Counter / Timer, but I calculated the exposure simply by starting at F2.8 and working from there (although from experience I can get them pretty close by "guessing" anyway) (there's a LOT of lattitude in long exposures; eg 1 min or 4 min would probably have worked just as well, after adjustments).

Hi Colin :)
I don't have the TC80-N3 but the lower one. A shame. I should have bought one like yours not the down graded.
Thank you for the tip ! :)

The TC80-N3 is a nice piece of kit - I use it practically every shoot. The joy of it is that you can tell it to wait "X" number of hours / minutes / seconds and then take "X" number of "X" Second shots, waiting "X" time between.
With the standard remote release you'd just have to time it with a watch (although Canon require that the watch be a Rolex if your shooting with a 1D series camera) :)
What would be great is if Canon just let us choose longer exposure times on manual!

OK, all understood ...
... and X = ?
:):D:)
(a subtle (and not very good) joke for the engineers among us)

That's what makes me an "X-spurt" (X being the unknown quantity, and a spurt being a drip under pressure!)
