I think that you can probably turn some of those shots into “fairytale” type captures with proper editing, Mark.
Put up a couple of pixs that you think are candidates and maybe we can help?
I often edit my shots as a guest and typically have been told that my shots are superior to the ones taken by the official, paid-for photographer.
Does the couple have at least TIFFs of the wedding from the hired photographer? If so, then editing would not be a problem.
Re: my first wedding job!
As i said in my original post, i only had 2 hours to prepare the stuff that i did originally before i left for work. I haven't been home since and all the information im getting from the couple is via email, as far as i understand the main photog shot B&W jpegs in camera and the bride would have liked colour!!! im home next week and will find out more, ill also find out which images they want fairytale and let you all know :D
Re: my first wedding job!
B&W JPGs only in this day and age? Now that is remarkable, Mark. ;)
I do not know what it is, but this kind of debacle seems to be a common thread with respect to some wedding photographers—that they “misunderstand” what the couple wants and ultimately do not deliver. It is a real shame since such an event is a one time opportunity.
It rather reminds me of architects who want to design “their” own vision of a house and not that of the client.
I am intrigued by your project, Mark. Let us know when you get more info and more pixs. :D
Re: my first wedding job!
I agree with a passion Viana  Kind of props up my theory of always shoot RAW whats to lose? i will keep you informed and will get some re processed images up here for you all to play with. Try not to be too harsh on the official photog, she was just an amateur working for free i believe, maybe too much of an amateur in this case......
If she had just shot RAW, but maybe she has and the couple dont know, ill let you know next week.
Re: my first wedding job!
How did the music work on the video? Did you purchase on iTunes and then attach (I saw the Cure credited)? Did you contact someone for a common use license (who) ?
Thanks
Re: my first wedding job!
eeeeerrrrrrm.... i do own copies of the music, but i get the feeling its not strictly legal. you tube do vet any content and its not viewable in germany because of licensing issues, if any of the artists complain ill take it down :)
Re: my first wedding job!
Mark,
I really enjoyed your great pice of work.
Congrats!
Re: my first wedding job!
Some good shots there, Mark.
I'm guessing YouTube did not show them at their best; I'd like to see some of them without the "benefit" of the "Tube"
It was great to see - and I hope you will not be offended by this - ordinary wedding photos; people (and dogs) just doing what they do.
Good stuff
Dave
Re: my first wedding job!
Marcus, thanks for your kind words.
Dave, not offended at all, it was my aim just to catch the normal folk doing normal stuff rather that traditional posed images, Life is up in the air for me at the moment as im changing jobs. As soon as time allows im going to rework some of the images with everybody's help on here!
Re: my first wedding job!
Thought you did a good job of different. Want more of it.
