Standing on the edge of North America

This is another Cape Cod shot -- the last that I will post. This is the ocean side where the water was not frozen. I left the expansive sky for the following reason - When you walk up the hill at the National Seashore, and reach the top (as this image displays) seeing the ocean, along with the massive sky is just amazing and serves as a gentle reminder about how massive and beautiful our planet is. Nice, it is clear the sky is the focus on this image...I also like how you captured an area of ground with a bit of Foliage coming through the snow...reminds us the spring is coming. I think this is welcome relief for those in the Northeast of the USA

I've never had that experience at Cape Cod but I've had it elsewhere and your image very nicely reminds me of it with no narrative needed to make that happen.

The next time you make an image such as this one, consider positioning the two fence posts that intersect with the horizon either just a smidgeon higher or below the horizon. My vote would go for higher in this situation when you also have a plant that is clearly higher, so the two poles balance that plant.

Very good clarity and colours; but I do agree with Mike about the post tops being exactly on the horizon line, which is very fractionally tilted as well.

Excellent composition Kim. I like the simplicity of this shot and it has a nice crisp and fresh "feel" to it. Clarity is very good.

I love your beach shot. every time I look at them I want to go on holidays.

Nice shot, Kim. As a general rule I'd prefer less sky but in this case it works. It adds to both the sense of space and season. Compositionally the tops of the two poles aligned perfectly with the horizon are a bit awkward.

Nicely composed, Kim...I just smiled at Chris comment because although this is a beach shot, there is snow there...!!! still too cold for my nose to poke about I suppose...both you and Chris are more resilient than my tropical blood I am sure...

Anyway, looking at this scene I noticed that bunch of weeds...almost centrally located but a nice touch there.

It was a meaningful comment, as when I was working on this the second time, I noticed that as well and wondered if it was correct. I know you are not supposed to have horizons cut through a person's head, but wasn't sure what the guidance was on landscapes.

Per Mike's comment, either below or above would work better than perfectly even. Depending on the rest of the scene. It's amazing how often I do similar things and never notice until reviewing the photos afterward :o
