It's all about communication...

I have been asked, coaxed, wheedled and cajoled to post this shot here for your comments much against my better judgement I may add....so here it is and let's hear no more about it Donald! :)

I like it - it's a good moment that tells a story and the processing adds texture that works well. Slightly more of the heads would be preferable, but shots like this are often about what you can get as moments are fleeting.

Nice styling, too bad the stylish phone dates the image.

Beat me to it, John...I was more interested in the Phone...

Isn't that the point? Communication.

As Sharon says, I pushed her to post this up here. I think it is an amazing image. Beautifully made, but so contemporary in terms of the narrative of the image. The juxtaposing of the different ways in which we communicate in the modern world.

As Ansel Adams said - 'You either get it or you don't. There's nothing written on the back telling you what you're supposed to get'.

I've already told Sharon that I want to print this image. She should also be submitting it to contemporary photographic art journals such as The British Journal of Photography or Hotshoe.

Sharon, this picture is the best I have seen since I joined this forum. I can not adequately explain why. I think it is because it is gritty, powerful (and the subjects are so 'normal'). Your use of high ISO works to great effect. This is just great. Keep it up, don't get ordinary on us.

I like the processing Sharon, but as Izzie and John have noted, I don't think it works with the phone. Otherwise, I like the subject.

I love it - and I love the phone, its very now and its communications - its the world we live in where the concept of communication is no longer as narrow as it once was - its diverse and multi media, its fast changing technology and while we say the phone dates it, yes, but thats the point, it is ever changing and now is not yesterday but its still communication - tomorrow who knows? This is a definition of 'communication' today, not a definitive statement but an ephemeral view of a fast changing world

This is looking back into present from future, from a time-traveller; so i feel it is the presence of the cell phone that makes this image...really really well done!!!!
