There's an abandoned airport not far from where I live.

Lots of fences, locks & chains, and wildflowers abound...the best time of day to shoot there is right as the sun is going down, so each day I have about a ten minute window to shoot...today, I mapped out my shots using previous visits as my guide...and these are the results.

These first flowers remind me of Rob's shot on the coast. Interspersed with the blue flowers are lots and lots of blackberries (which will get picked tomorrow). The second shot is more of the berry plants, but into the sun and the last, just some old grassy stuff growing to the lee side of a chain link fence. It is the color I sought to catch in this time window...C&C always welcome.

There's an abandoned airport not far from where I live.

Very nice -- I like the second one best. I wish the grass weren't in the front of the first one, but what can you do -- I like the third one, too.

Willie or Jiro is fine by me.

Count me in on #2 Elise. Chris, that shot has a lot of character in it. Well done, teacher.

If an aim is to convey the sense of an abandoned airfield, then, for me, #2 does that wonderfully well. That very low viewpoint, with the grasses and flowers growing wild, with a glimpse of a fence and the top of a building tells the story wonderfully well.

And now that I've looked at the other comments, I see Elise and Willie also take that view.

Mary... or Lucy... either is fine with me. ;)

Ditto. The wild grasses, flowers and... the sun rays. The sun rays do it for me.
