    Roses for Katy

I couldn't resist these antique roses yesterday. They remind me of Katy.

That's a bit much - calling Katy an antique!

I know .......... but maybe she is an antique!

Anyway, I love what I would call, the subtlety and muted tones of #1. For me, it's got 'style'. #2 may be stronger compositionally? Less fuss and clutter.

Alright, alright, alright, you guys! Geesh! I'm not even sure if I'm a little girl, woman or, well, my best friend, here, in VT, is in her eighties.... no wonder no one else can tell.

Raylee, these are beautiful! It is SO nice to see a post from you, again!

At the very first, I was of Donald's opinion about the colors in the first and the simplicity of the composition in the second but I've changed my mind about the composition. I think that we get so used to seeing a certain kind of photograph - flowers on a simple background, here, that it just looks weird, for a moment, to see something else. The first one has beautiful elements (the ribbons, mirrors, roses, the faded outer petals of the roses, the colors) that all add up to such a pretty style. I think that this would look beautiful in a magazine!

In the second one - the textures on the roses are sooooo pretty. (oh, I LOVE roses - I do!) The upper rose is perfect! I wonder if the back, oof focus rose could be toned down a little? I think that it's pulling my eye..... (I'm never confident about these things, though.)

These made you think of me....???

Donald, you may call me an antique but I heard the most delicious scoop of gossip about you from Mr. F. Wirefox, yesterday - seems there's more to this harem thing than originally suspected.....should I spill???

    Absolutely

Anything that promotes my image as the adonis-type he-man at whose feet women simply swoon, is fine by me!

Thanks everyone. I probably prefer #1 because of the vintage feel. But #2 came about because I was playing with the black perspex. I think #2 has a more modern feel to it and, as you know by now, I love simple modern images. I think it's interesting that different props bring about a different feel to the same flowers. I just love the flowers.

The florist I bought the roses from is only tiny but has beautiful flowers. It also sells gifts - a lot of French soaps and bits and pieces - nice tasteful knick-knacks. It also has some hand-made cards. I'm thinking of going back regularly and maybe showing the ladies the photos of their flowers... with a view to making some cards for them to sell??? Do you think it's worth a try?

I've had a productive couple of days with the camera which is really nice because I've been feeling very flat. I'll share some more with you shortly.

As I was coming home tonight, late, I saw a sign on the little neighborhood flower shop: We have LILACS! I'll be there first thing in the morning. Lilacs (which don't grow here in California -- ) woo hoo!

I agree with the kilted one - the first in this series would be terrific on cards - perfect for your artistic skills.
