Re: Macro flower photographs
Dag Peter, (That is all the Dutch I know, BTW)
Spring visited us for a day, but we woke up to snow this morning. :·(

Not a macro, I took this with my new 50 mm prime at f1.8, a lens I am liking more and more.
Re: Macro flower photographs
Well, the Dutch was pretty good actually;)
I love that 50mm f1.8 lens. I have it too and used it with the dogs a while ago. Beautiful bokeh and very sharp.
Re: Macro flower photographs
I suppose it was good to be restricted to the kit lenses for so long, to learn all kinds of sharpening techniques, but it is nice to have to do so little of it with this lens now. :D

Got a trio to share...
Rosebud with Aphids (don't worry, they were naturally taken care of by ladybug larvae which were also photographed and the rose bloomed without problem)

Katy,
Thanks! Regardless of the recent stigma surrounding the "wow"s, I certainly appreciate a "wow" when I get one, so thank you very much! :)
I'm really hoping this flower blooms again this year. It doesn't always bloom, and we had two buds on it last year only to have them wilt before blooming. I think our male dog decided they needed extra watering, and tried to help us out! I am hoping to try and almost duplicate the shot, but with the center of the blossom just a little higher or lower in the frame to give it more balance.
Anyway, this is one of my favorites too, and it makes me feel really good that someone like yourself - who takes such fantastic flower shots - likes it as well.

Yes Katy. It is one of 250 species amongst 20,000 Dahlia plants to be seen on the island in the Autumn. It is a magical place.

Re: Macro flower photographs
I took this one and removed the background, is this wrong? Should I have left it?

Re: Macro flower photographs
that would depend on if the background belonged to you in the first place...:p
