Thank you very much for viewing.

I downloaded a trial copy of LR 3.3 to see if I can use it. I tried to process this image using the default b&w conversion and I am impressed.

    --------
    Nikon D70, 50mm f1.8D lens, Exposure at ISO 200, f5.6 at 1/200 sec., b&w conversion in LR 3.3, Post-Processing in Photoshop.

Very nice as usual, Jiro. I downloaded LR 3.3 myself, and I'm quickly becoming addicted. It's "ACR for Humans". Obviously, ACR could be exactly like this, but Adobe makes more moola by making ACR as clumsy and confusing as possible.

Many thanks, Al. IMO, some of Adobe's products are a hit and miss. It just so happens that I'm an old user of Photoshop so using photoshop seems OK to me. When I tried to use Lightroom, I was in for a surprise! I can't seem to find out how to navigate myself through it. LOL! Being a persistent student, after about 15 minutes I was able to load an image and edit it. Quite frankly, I was positively surprised by the way the sliders in its black and white conversion works. If you have a properly exposed image and you simply want to convert it to b&w, lightroom is a sure easy way to do it creatively. But if you have a troubled image, you need the help of photoshop to do some layer and masking to it. Well, I still have enough days to play with it before it expires.

Clever use of selective colourisation, Willie. Good one. And the B & W conversion is excellent as well.

That's a really nice photo Willie! If this was in my yard though, I would have to transPLANT the small plant before the mower found it! I'm not very good at steering around things in the yard...

Thanks, Brian. The kids have their own "spot" at the backyard. They can do anything they want but have to take care of that spot. My little boy opted to plant a small tree instead.

Thanks, Debbie. Sometimes they can strengthen the image and sometimes they don't.

    Hi Jiro
I to like the effect of selected colourisation in a B&W shot. I hope you don't mind if I include one of mine in this thread?

Pleased you're enjoying Lightroom, I wouldn't be without it. I still use Photoshop for some work, but it's mostly to get that final something out of a difficult image.

Thanks, Mike. I still prefer Photoshop and my NIK software combo. LOL! It would take some time to learn Lightroom. As for now, I find it interesting.
