    Black swans

What do you think of these? I'm not quite sure. The sun was very bright - it was the middle of the day.

    One word; "Great"

    No really, I do.

May be #1 would have stood just a little less lightening on the underside (although there is 'bounce' from the light coloured ground), but better that than not be able to see the detail. That said, it still goes all the way to black on a histogram, so it isn't a huge problem.

I'd be very happy to put my name to these, sharp, well exposed and composed.

    Cheers,

I think they're lovely, Raylee -- the detail in the feathers is beautiful, and the "poses" are very nice as well.

    Hi Raylee,
I must agree and say that Dave has definitely used the right word "GREAT"

These are beautiful! The feathers are so glistening and soft looking - I want to pet them. Probably a bad idea? Well, really, Dave said it all perfectly, first, though; so, you know,....what he said.

The detail you've got on the feathers here is mighty impressive. I note and agree with Dave's comments. The line made by the neck and head are amazing

On this one, it's the overall shape that I find wonderful - that curve going round the chest, leading us up to the neck and head. And, again, the focus and sharpening are on the nail!

    Thanks Katy and Donald.

I thought about patting them too, Katy, and decided they might snap at me. They are very tame, though, because people feed them.

I think I'll visit them again.

    Raylee,

Well done. Nice detail in both, however I prefer the composition in the second shot. Had they been taken earlier in the day or late afternoon with softer light they would have been even nicer. Good shooting.

    Hi Raylee,

Very, very nice. I agree with all before more.

The tone in #1 is quiet constant throughout and I might have done a little burning in of the ground to add a floor to the image - something for the swan to stand on.

    Thanks.

    Peter

I did burn the ground a bit but obviously not enough. Thanks.

    Hi Raylee
What a coincidence! Here is a photo of the same group of swans on Burley Griffin. I took a number of shots of them on a visit to Canberra last year

And the water is just as dirty! Because of all the rain and run off, the water in the lake is filthy.

All our water ways up this way are just as bad. The rain just won't stop.
