    Diet Coke grey card?

    Diet Coke grey card?

I clicked on the diet coke case to white balance this picture. It worked ok, but the case is a bit shiny. My theory was that Coke is going to very particular about the consistency of the colors on their product, and if you check on the web, their colors on the diet coke sit3 are perfectly neutral , 174 - 174 - 174 RGB. I could cross check with the red as another known color. 238 -28-37, but the glare completely ruins the purity of that color. My guess is that the glare is also ruining the neutrality of the grey. Still the WB looks decent.

I think you'll find a gray card does infinitely better as there is no glare to consider and it is calibrated to specific standards...(yeah, I know, a million people are going to argue on the level of calibration -yadda-yadda-yadda but like ISO numbers, they're pretty much true across the board).

I use one that has three indicators: white, gray, black - just as you will find in your curves adjustment dialogue.
