    Older Nikkor AF lens compatibility

After reviewing Ken Rockwell's site on the subject, I came to the conclusion it was silly to spend $400 on a 1.4 nikkor 1.4 when I had about 15 50mm 1.8 lenses just hanging around...some in better shape than others...
Anyway, Thanks Pops! It works just wonderfully...see...

I am tempted to swipe the flowers to take to class tomorrow. I wish the EXIF was still there. (I don't have i'net at class.) My subject tomorrow morning is that you don't have to have anything which is greatly different to make a greatly different picture. The juxtaposition of the two flowers is just great.

Thank you. I think that implies I have permission to copy the file, temporarily?

I had a series of photographs to demonstrate the the subject doesn't have to be anythingsuper-special to make a great picture. When I cycled to yours, they all said, "Did you take that one?" They explained that it was an unusual subject for me and ...

They liked it, though. It got as many comments about structure, lighting, focus and composition as my picture of the rock wall of the library building.

Oddly enough, I showed it to my students today and they too seemed to like it....most of my studentws are into wacky and weird so I had to take that as a nice compliment. Glad your students enjoyed as well.

I really like number 2. Number 1 is great, too.

I had about a dozen different pictures to show the students to demonstrate my point. The two which drew the most comments were your flowers and this one. Comments on yours started a strong discussion on "thirds" as that was last week's discussion. This one just drew general discussion of "Is that a pattern shot or lines'n'angles?"

Again, thank you for lending me the shot.

This one takes on a whole new function as a texture or abstract simply by tossing it isn Silver Efex Pro and giving it a slight tone, then overlaying it on the original at 70%, flattening, adding a curves adjustment, and...

Nice work, Chris. I use that series later in the semester when covering some of the touch-up editing techniques. Keep in mind these are first and second semester students and I get only one hour a week with them.

Incidently, that was shot JPG, on a heavily overcast day, full shade, no WP adjustment.

Oddly enough, the 50mm 1.8 is a dream on the D7000, but the 70-210 doesn't work worth a ding-dong. In normal focal range, sans any zooming, it's adequate at best. Not sure the Tamron is not better and it's softer than warm butter. I've tried every every way to get the zoom to release, but once the camers is turned on, zip goes the zoom function - zip to the point of not working at all..
