Hi Bill,
Looks good, but wondering it it's just a touch flat and undersaturated?
If you're keen to experiment, try adding a levels layer (raising the black clipping point just a couple of notches, lowering the white clipping point to make her a bit brighter) - add a HSB layer and boost the saturation about 10%, and try applying an USM of around 40% @ 2 pixels, and see if you like the improvements.
What do you think?
Can't afford Photoshop Colin, so did the rough equivalent in Gimp. Definitely a big improvement. Thanks for your advice.
Bill
I like the way you have controlled the light on this portrait. Is it a single or multi flash set up
the reason I ask is that every time I use a single on camera flash I get shadows in all the wrong places.

John, I used a Nikon SB600 on camera bounced off the ceiling, TTL mode.
John, if it helps, we had a discussion of bounce flash a while back ...

breathing space above is surely more than necesary:) nice soft portrait! every thing here looks alright to me,except the expression:) the eyes need some sparkle.......literally too:D a catchlight! more sexy glint in the eyes would have rounded off well in this composition! backdrops should have been either totally white or cream!:D not half of each color:D the subject would love this pic of herself and treasure it for a long time, till another betters this:D
I fully agree with what you have said Taken but this shot was as per how the lady wanted it, I believe her words were "Here! Now!".
