Only, Joe, when we get to see the photos...go back to the intro page and reread the instructions on posting photos...the final trick is to copy the upload information then pasting it in the dialogue box - after that, go to the advanced key and do your titling. Someone should do a screen capture, step by step of this procedure and post it.

yay! I like the shot but might suggest (if Alfie will sit still long enough) to get closer and shoot in a more upward mode and drop your f/stop to a lower aperture to soften the background. Make Alfie the whole center of attention.

That was also my first thoughts. Too much wood; not enough Alfie.

It may be worth trying a slightly tighter crop and running over the background with the Blur Tool.

Hi Richard, Yes he is a great little dog,We believe he is a cross terrier. He is a rescue dog. we think he is about 13 years old, and we would not part with him for any reason. He is the best dog I have ever seen with children, the grandchildren plague the life out of him getting him to play the roll of show jumping horse, going over the jumps they set up in the garden, dressing him up in whatever they can find, and millions of other thing they can think of. What a dog.....

Difficult to tell how big he is from the picture, but there looks like some bearded collie in there. Whatever, he looks a gentle beauty.

He's the wrong colour for Michael Caine! Very nice dog though.

As Chris said, the composition needs to be much tighter. May I suggest this - it gives some reasonable lead lines from bottom left and right corners, and puts Alfie in a good position looking into the shot.

With everything so drab looking (that time of year I know), I wonder if the photo would look better in B&W?

Mary... or Lucy... either is fine with me. ;)

Re: Alfie on a day in the woods

Alfie is a keeper! He looks to be full of personality. The tighter crop really makes Alfie the focus.

I like both the tighter crop and the b&w. Well done.

Joe, I often find that 'problem' images are actually more interesting than looking at perfect photos. So don't worry about asking for more suggestions or advice in the future.
