We have a similar looking water bird in Australia. It's called a cormorant or a shag in common parlance. There's a saying about being the odd one out: 'I felt like a shag on a rock'. And yes, there is another meaning to shag. I can hear my UK friends tittering away.

And funny you should mention the Commorant as they are directly related to each other. I have seen them in the Carribean doing the same thing, so when I came across this guy, yesterday, I had to do some research. They are a very pretty bird.

This is what the Cormorants they use for fishing along the Li River in China look like. They band the bird's neck so it cannot swallow a large fish and when the bird brings in a large fish, they are given a small scrap of fish which they can swallow. I wonder what labor unions would say about that? Exploitation of the working class? I had planned to go out in the evening and shoot the fishermen on their boats with their lights and their birds but, inclement weather prevented that.
