Way back in September I submitted five photographs to the Elkhorn Slough Calendar contest. I just got two copies of the calendar today, and I'm in it twice! Neither picture rated an actual monthbut the Greater Yellowlegs is in the Introductory pages and the hummingbird one is an inset in August. I'm very excited, and next year will work toward having a whole month page to myself!

Thanks! I'm pretty excited. Even though the bird in the one is pointing in the wrong direction
it looks pretty good the way they've laid it out -- the text is kind of overlayed on it, and it looks nice.

In Portuguese sometimes we say that something make us "ganhar o dia" (to win the day), you may say "ganhei o ano" (I won the year)
Congratulations!
I liked most the hummingbird, and by the way, in Portuguese it's called beija-flor, literally "kisses-flower". =D

Thanks, everyone -- the pictures that are featured each month really are very, very good, so now I have a standard to reach for next year. I love the place and go down there often, so I have plenty of opportunities to take good shots. They have to be very high quality, though, so that's another reason to keep working on my technique.
