So, the question is - What is the process for getting the correct URL to link into a bit of text in my signature. Please don't tell us that the map owner is the only one who can do this and that it will always default to his entry. I'm not sure the world is ready for that!
You're starting to sound like my wife! "Where are my pretty boys..." she often says.

Go to the map. Click EDIT. Select your entry. Click on 'link' and copy the highligtherd code. Click DONE. Paste the code into your siggy. I can do it - like this Donald, where's yer twewsers? and I am the owner of the map. Is that what you did?

And I signed out of Google (not the owner any more) and and again

    Donald,

That looks a bit like an old BT phone exchange building - is it?

Here's a good one. Click on MORE then tick 'real estate' and you get pink pins for all the properties near you for sale. You can chhange the search parameters to incude/exclude properties, or widen/zoom in the area in the normal way. Having found a property you can use streetview to look at the property outside.

I did warn you I was going to move back to Scotland....

BT is indeed my neighbour. But it's not old. It's very much alive. That's why I want mega-speed broadband - the exchange is 8ft from my house.

I reckon it's used by staff to hide. There's at least one, if not two. BT vans there every day for significant periods of time. Either it houses some terribly important equipment that's essential for the security of the nation, or they go in for a snooze.

Brilliant - the guidance note worked.

As an ex-BT manager, I'm forced to concede that it's definitely the former of the two. But I feel your pain.

Did you sort out your siggy link?

PS - I see you did!

You need to add your details and location to the CiC map which I set up. The instructions are in post #1. Send me a PM if you have trouble editing it.

Yep, only a short swim and you'd be into the icebergs. I think you're further down than I am up. But, as we know, they breed 'em tough out here in the extremities.

... you're birthplace is covered by a cloud when you zoom right in.

Cor, I worked for BT once as a contractor, only as riff raff though. But it was the highest paid and easiest job I ever did. After I graduated I took and paid for a Fork Lift course so that I could at least look for a proper job and not be harassed by those awful dept of employment people.

Starting at 10pm I got 16 per hour minimum 10 hours (160 per day)although I was finished at midnight and on my way home before 4am; boring but when I tried to find something to do the management said stop it.

Actually it was the next highest paid.

If what I saw from that satellite picture were sheep, then:

    1. It's no wonder the All Blacks get so big and whipped us at Murrayfield last week (sorry rest of the world, this is about the sport of rugby union)
    2. There's got to be some very frightened farmers down there!

That's one mighty straight bit of interstate highway that runs along just south of you.

    Cost saving measure:
You put a post in the middle,
    tie some rope to it,
attach the other end to a tractor at the edge, which is towing the plough, seed planter, water tank, harvester, whatever, set it going and wait until it winds itself in to the middle - farming, without the expense of employing tractor drivers

    Am I close Pops?

    Cheers,

    They are called "circles."

    Cheers,
Run a 6" or 8" water line into the middle of the field, attach a tower to it with a 4" or 6" pipe boom sticking out across the land. Hang a triangular motorized tower on the end of it, and hang sprinklers on the horizontal pipe boom. From there you run another boom and hang another triangular, motorized tower. Repeat until you have 1/4 mile of booms and towers, with sprinklers hanging from the booms. The end tower runs forward until it trips a relay in the next to last tower, which then moves forward and trips the relay for the next one nearer the center. This continues until the machine gets back in alignment and starts all over again. You will be watering about 120 acres of ground with a "center-pivot irrigating machine." The field these machines water is called a "circle."

There are some experiments going on using GPS and radio control to remote the tractors, but they aren't very trustworthy, yet.

A rope on a 3,000 horsepower tractor? Hmmmmmmmph!
