Welcome to CiC, David. The only thing I know about Mandeville is that you have a Bops frozen custard shop there. The only one of them we haven't visited...yet

Welcome to the site... My wife was born in Louisiana and I was born in New York. I like to confuse folks by letting them know that during our Civil War, my wife's ancestors fought on the Union side and my ancestors fought on the Confederate side You figure that one out...

    Nope no cigar!!!

My father was discharged from the Navy in New York City, married my mother and stayed there. His family had lived in Texas since Mexico owned it and, as such fought for their country during the Civil War.

My wife's people came to Massachusetts as Puritans on one of the first Puritan ships. Her father was in the Army Air Force during World War II. He had been stationed in California where he married my wife's mother and then was stationed in Louisiana when my wife was born.

However, I have very likely fought harder for my country than most folks after 32 years in the Navy with 26 months In-Country Vietnam combat duty. First time I have been called a traitor but, I hope you didn't mean it like it sounded...

I just may have you beat; my Dad is Croatian and my Mom is Serbian (both past years ago). Figure that one out!
