Lightroom Folder Import Naming Options?

Hello,

When importing into Lightroom 5 (PC) and to my hard drive I name my folders in this format "2016-12-31 Dog Show" as an example. When they arrive in Lightroom Folders they also appear this way. I am showing my friend who is new to Lightroom how to import by naming folders this way. The problem is they don't arrive in the (IMAC) Lightroom folder with the above format but 2016

There should be a dropdown list in the destination pane on the right side. That is where you specify the format.
