Latest PP apps!

Hi guys
I`ve quite enjoyed the past few weeks trying out various post processing packages and I`m pretty near choosing one but I just need to see what folk make of the impending On1 photo Raw due out 23rd Nov. My trusty old desktop and laptop both Pentium dual cores with 4gb ram run Win 10 64bit fine and practically all my other apps no probs at all. My favourite at the moment is Acdsee Ultimate 10 which seems to work pretty well on my setup and they have just reduced the price so its a strong contender. Affinity photo I was looking forward to but grinds to a halt on my setup, Photodirector 8 also seemed pretty good until an email reply told me I can only install it on one pc.
One thing that concerns me is running On1 photo 10 (the On1 Raw predecessor) sometimes when its loading say a 28mb jpg it does freeze the mouse for a short while and can seem a bit sluggish at times but the On1 raw reviewers remark on how fast On1 Raw runs as its been totally redeveloped but I would have to buy a copy to get the 23rd Nov release because the final release/free trial is not available until 15th Dec so I either have to buy it and hope it runs ok tomorrow (they do mention a 30day money back but don`t stipulate the conditions??) or wait until 15th Dec for the trial.
Maybe its time for a new/faster pc but everything I need seems to work ok so `if it aint broke.....etc`

My On-1 10 seemed a bit sluggish on my old computer with Win-7 and 8 GB of RAM. I run it now with Win-10 and 32 GB of RAM and a SSD hard drive and it hums and never freezes.

Just to clarify:

* When you talk about a Pentium Dual Core are we talking about a (trusty old) pre i3/i5/i7 processor or one of the more modern/current budget processors?

* Can either your desktop or laptop accept extra RAM.

I ask because my youngest has a brand new but entry level laptop with a very basic Kabylake i3 processor and 8GB of RAM that hums along happily with W10 easily running all his day-to-day needs but it would grind to a halt if I loaded LR or PS onto it.

Yes it is pre i3 ,I suppose I could install more ram but they are getting a bit long in the tooth (like their owner&#128521 so possibly time to get a new PC. I don't like disposing of stuff that still works ok!
