Where Man Meets Machine - Something Different

When I recently had opportunity to meet with some men to photograph their refurbished vintage cars I was fascinated by their shop. It's sort of an archetypical shop with smells of gasoline, oil and a bit of sweat and I really like this image, perhaps because it's tied to a memory of the shop on the ranch where I grew up.

As usual, I would go B & W with subject matter like this, but that's just our different approaches and styles.

The subject matter is brilliant and you've got it beautifully sharp from front to back.

Thank you Donald. I think you are right...it would look good in black and white...I may try that and sepia although it's already close to sepia.

This reminds me of watching my grandfafther work in his workshop - he was a boilermaker but could turn his hand to fixing almost anything.

    Great memories. Thanks Chuck.

Peter, I'd love to say yes, but unfortunately the noisy, old, slow, bug-smashers that I used to fly couldn't keep up with one of these if it was just about to stall and fall out of the sky. And no national Air Force has offered me a ride as of yet (although if you have any connections, you'd make me a happy man for life!).

Way cool Colin...I read that it wasn't you...was going to be my question. I too would love a tame and sane ride in a fighter jet. Closest I got was an offer to ride in a Lear jet my nephew was driving. Couldn't make it so had to make a rain check.

Ahh, the good old days eh. Powerful beast in my control - beautiful woman at my side. Beautiful woman's parter in the back (oh well, can't have everything!)

... hopefully aimed at some of those Somali pirates!

(I can't wait for the day they try to take over an aircraft carrier ... I suspect that by the time the F-18's and F-16's have finished with them there won't be anything bigger than a 50c piece left )
