The second shot is awesome. The position in which you caught animal and rider really shows the struggle being waged on both there faces. Then there's the interesting bookends of the two cowboy hats in the BG on either side of the rider. Plus a bit of humor/irony that you captured the cell phone presumably taking video from the opposite angle of your camera. Nicely done.

Definitely taking video with the cellphone.

The pro cowboys and the animals are on a circuit and will see each other all the time. They are assigned by draw every day of an event. Every one of them is identified by a stock number and the guys like to know how they act. It isn't unusual to see a whole line of them watching the chutes to figure out how the bronc is going to act.

Scoring is based on the actions of both animal and rider. If they don't get good grades they don't get included in future events. At the top level, the rider actually can select a particular bronc or bull because they don't want to get knocked out of the national point counts by a bad animal.

I once enjoyed rodeos however, now I am of the opinion that a rodeo, like horse and gray hound racing is taking advantage of defenseless animals for the enjoyment of humans...

I love #1 for the enjoyment of both the animal and the rider with what they are both doing. Yeehaaaa!!!
#2 was nicely caught. Excellent shots both -- I can almost smell the dirt from here...
