Re: new hdr style

Very interesting effect - I especially like the last one of the boat in the old harbour - the clouds look like coloured liquid in water.

Cheers, Richard.

Re: new hdr style

I really like your image editing. Nice and smooth without that cotton candy look. I read your post-Photomatix workflow comments. Do you still have the Photomatix settings? I'd love to create a preset in your name!

Re: new hdr style

Thanks,
I tried it and was pleased with the jumping off point.

I am of the school that photography is an Art, not so much absolutely realistic but what Third Eye sees. To that end I will twist a photo until it tells a story, creates a mood or elicits an emotion. Still, so much to learn!!!

Thanks again,
Stuart

Re: new hdr style

Peter,
Your website is truly stunning. I like your style and taste.

I have a question about your work flow: You have posted your Photoshop actions first. Is this correct? I use PS to merge then save as .exr, doing nothing at this point. Open in Photomatix, ToneMap, save as .tiff and open in Lightroom for final adjustment.

Is Topaz Adjust what you are referring to? or do you use another product?

Sorry to be picking your brain. Imitation is the highest form of flattery!!!

Stuart

Re: new hdr style

still working on my site (as we speak)
but it's photomatix first then i go to photoshop
will change it asap on my site

I use more actions in cs3 like layer adjusting and soft gaussian blur delete parts i didn like
add some color masks (delete parts i didn like)
depending on the shot use some nikon color efx pro or tiffen pro filtering (cs3 filters)
use some motion blur, and erase parts i didn like
add a lighting mask again delete parts
layers of color balance and gradients and heu and delete part offcours

use topaz do edit the noise from hdr

thats it

Re: new hdr style

Peter,
Your work flow is amazing and the results reflect the amount of work you've put into them. I'm not sure I've got the skill sets to do all of that. Downloaded the trial Topaz yesterday, really like the effects. Thanks for your advise!

TonyJr,
If you're referring to the halos behind the building in the marina, those are intentional, after all it's a sunset with the sun directly behind that building.
I've got to warn you about HDR, it can be addictive. You'll find yourself going out during low light conditions and praying for storm clouds. My wife is getting suspicious about my hours, "You can't take pictures when it's this dark!!". When I show her what I've done she believes me. Good Luck!

Stuart

Re: new hdr style

Did you watch the videos at the Topaz Adjust and the DeNoise sites.....you don't need much more, other than a little time and imagination...

Thanks , I'll go back and watch .
I'm not getting too far the last week or so . ATT & yahoo are having are hard time keeping the site / servers working . I'm having to jump back and forth between firefox and yahoo .
All my passwords are in yahoo and if I say I lost my password I have to log-in change password , go to other browser - it's a pain . I'm on a MAC .
