    I do like Photoshop CC

Photoshop CC has some capabilities that absolutely blow my mind...

I love the masking capabilities and I also love the capability of opening Camera RAW as a filter, even with a JPEG image.

There are many other techniques that I am in awe of

There is also a plethora of information on the Internet regarding the uses of Photoshop CC.

At first I could not figure out how to do an unrestrained crop. It is pretty easy but, it is not totally obvious. I learned how to do that by doing a Google Search.

BTW: Select the Crop Tool, select Ratio and select clear. That works just fine but it is sort of like boiling ice cubes to make tea. Why did they get rid of the "unconstrained" selection in the drop down menu?

My favorite Navy saying is, "Don't fix it if it ain't broken!"

I like Photoshop CC too, although after some time using it there is still much that I don't know.

I don't have your problem, Richard. When I select the crop tool (which I do with the keyboard shortcut c), along the top bar there is the Ratio button which I don't touch, beside that the two numbers for the ratio. If you press the Clear button to the right, these numbers disappear and don't come back until you enter new numbers, even after closing and reopening Photoshop. That way you have the unconstrained crop.

Am I misunderstanding what you said?
