2016 Project 52, third quarter by Lindsay (CormacD)

    Week 27
More bush photos this week, walked on a section of the Bibbulmun Track, runs for some 960 km in the south west of Australia, roughly where indigenous people have walked for 30 or 40 thousand years, I think. Had morning tea at the Canning Hut where hikers can stay over night. There were fires through this area last summer and you can see how the forest is starting to recover.

Nice series, one year I was in the remnants of the burnt forest of Blue Mountain and there was an electric feeling to the atmosphere that was intensified by the dry heat of the day.

It always breaks my heart when I see a place burning...imagining in the bush the many animals and birdies lives lost ... if it is controlled burning it is OK but a bush fire is heartbreaking, especially an intentional one. Mind you I am not a tree hugger. I just care about lives, both people and animals'. Your image here shows good recovery, new leaves hatchlings. I like this first one with the backlighting of the early morning sun.

John. That's a good description of the feeling I get in burnt out forests.

    Hi Lindsay,

Interesting series - to someone like me, brought up in suburbia.

I think I see a lot of uncorrected lateral Chromatic Aberration (CA) in #1, although the other two look OK, is it possible you forgot to fix it in that first one?

    HTH, Dave

Thanks Dave, good to hear from you again. I'm not sure I really know how to fix CA, I suspect in the first shot it is the lens causing it as it takes on the very bright sun behind the clouds through the trees and leaves of a lot of different colours combined with me over saturating. It is the effect that I was looking for to give the feeling that one gets when standing in a burnt out location.
I will go back and have a look at the references you provided a couple of months ago about post fixing CA and see what I can do.

Thanks Nandakumar, I think you are talking about the same things as Dave Humphries above and I have tried to reply.

Week 28 2016 Project 52, third quarter by Lindsay (CormacD)

Not much material this week, has been a bit wet. Saw this little boulder on Thursday's bush walk at Turner Hill mountain bike trail. I picked it up and put it on top of this stump, believe me?

    Boulder, 7 July 16, 9.02 am, ISO 400, 18.5 mm, f/8, 1/25 s.

WOW thanks Izzie, Im really pleased you enjoyed my rock and believed me when I said I put it there all by myself. I can go back out and put it on the handlebars of my bike and bring it over to your place in Melbourne, say next week?

I was also wondering about slightly repositioning that stone on the stump.

Nice well focused foreground gradually merging into the far distance which gives a good sense of perspective.

You know me, Lindsay...I'm a total moron who'd believe anything someone tells me at this time of the year. There is something about summer that makes me feel dizzy with all these traveling and craps too included!..

Thanks for the feedback, Geoff. I was thinking that you may help me move the rock a little.

Your boulder shot is really nice. Most have taken quite an effort to get it so precariously balanced on the stump!

Week 29 2016 Project 52, third quarter by Lindsay (CormacD)

This is a slightly different landscape, it is looking across Wilgie Creek on the other side of the river near home. Wilgie Creek is naturally a fresh water course and has white gum trees growing on the banks. In this case in someone's wisdom the brackish water from the river was pumped up into the creek, when he water levels were very low and you can see that the white gums are suffering.

    Suffering White Gums, 14 July 2016, 0855, ISO 280, 18.5 mm, f/9, 1/100 s

OH! I was sitting outside on my Mac when I did it and there was a lot of light on the screen, did not notice the blue. Bad blue, ha ha. I will have to fix and resubmit.
