    Reenactment

Taken somewhere in western Virginia at a big reenactment.

It's easy enough to get sharp pictures of people in uniforms, the participants want to get their picture taken; the challenge is to get pictures that evoke some feelings that mesh with out understanding of history.

For me, most straightforward 'pictures' just don't do it.

    Very nice set...

You have avoided the tell-tale 21st Century artifacts such as motor vehicles, power lines, modern looking building and modern eyeglasses on the reenactors

You have also avoided what I consider the bane of Civil War Reenactment photos - overweight reenactors

In the interest of political correctness - I won't mention females dressed as soldiers

Yes, I see what you mean Lew,

Many of these look like folks enjoying a day out - which is what it is, of course.
I guess the trick is to try to get an expression matching what the historical protagonists would have been feeling - not easy, I'm sure. e.g. they'd need to be directed by the photographer and I suspect there are many of them about too.

Richard has already highlighted the successes you have achieved.

    Good series, Dave
