It must have been fun chasing these guys with a camera. Do they bite?
Nice series. Did you use an ND filter for keeping DoF shallow in the sun? I'll be sure to check part one of the series.
Thanks for sharing.
Dem,
I was clawed by a crab some years ago whilst sitting on rocks fishing, four neat slashes on my foot, so I'm always aware that they could be creeping up behind me But these guys are only about 3 to four inches across.
These were all shot with a D800 (no ND) at f/13 to f/14, 1/400s to 1/800s, ISO1000 to 1400 and all at max FL of 550mm (400x1.4). The DoF at that FL and shooting distance of 3 to 4 metres from the subject is very narrow. Previously I have shot these with a D300 at f/8 (wide open) to keep the ISO low due to noise and it's difficult to get both eyes within the DoF.
Nice shots.
Very nice series Grahame. I must have missed Pt 1. 1 and 4 are particularly good.
we have no crabs but now I wish we did. nice shots
Well taken series. Like the first one the best.
Nice series, I like the second shot with the water splash.
Wow; a great photgenic model you have!!!
Nice series Grahame
Thanks John,
Part 1 is here Life on the rocks
On No 4 that hard shadow bugs me.
I can see why you've become addicted Grahame - I think we have too.
They are kinda enchanting, in a spiky, nippy sorta way
Enjoyed parts 1 and 2.
Thanks, Dave
