technically it is a blossom. Here they are called Torches. They are part of the ginger family.

Well, when you got this lens Brian, I expected sharper, closer macro shots, but (from the several shots I have seen from it) you also seem to have really used it to great effect in producing simple compositions that complement the subject.

There's a lesson for me in these - clearly I'm not getting what I could from mine
